Peter has had two careers, first as Reader in Pathology at London’s University College Hospital Medical School (where he was also Vice Dean), and Consultant Pathologist to the Hospital itself. From 1979 to 1992 he was the first Director of the reorganized Microbiological Establishment at Porton Down, following its transfer from the Department of Defence to that of Health, where it is now an important part of the Health Protection Agency. He is a Fellow of and visiting Professor at University College, London.
